Medicare Part D (Oct-Dec)

If you are over age 65 and do not have prescription drug coverage through an employer or other provider, you should enroll in a Medicare prescription drug benefit. Here are three tips to help you make the right Medicare Part D decisions: 1. Know Your Dates Medicare Part D Open Enrollment begins on Oct. 15 and ends on Dec. 7. 2. Know Your Options Let us help you understand your options (i.e. premiums, deductible and co-payments, accessibility at your preferred pharmacy, the drugs you need are on the list of covered medications). Some plans offer a preferred pharmacy network, which could save you money. Also consider that your medications may not be covered or will cost you more if you go to an out-of-network pharmacy. Are you at the pharmacy more than you want to be? Let us help synchronize your medications so you receive them at one time each month. You can even schedule one-on-one appointments with the pharmacist. 3. Value, Care and Convenience Consider a plan with pharmacist access to help you get the support you need and the savings you want from your plan. Pharmacists can identify shortcuts to help you stick to your treatment regimen and avoid potentially harmful drug interactions. To achieve the most value from your Part D plan, take your medications as prescribed, use generic medications when clinically appropriate, and take advantage of the free preventive screening and vaccinations under Medicare Part B.

Flu Shots (Aug-Feb)

How many times have you heard you should get a flu shot? The influenza vaccine has prevented millions of flu cases and tens of thousands of related hospitalizations, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The vaccine isn't perfect, and it doesn't guarantee 100 percent that you won't get influenza, but experts agree that it's far and away your best bet for bucking the flu. 10 reasons why you should get vaccinated. 1. It can be deadly 2. You miss important life events and lose sick days at work 3. It's available everywhere and you are an eligible candidate 4. It's usually painless and can even choose a needle-free alternative 5. It's affordable (and free on certain plans) 6. It can't give you the flu 7. You get a tailor-made flu shot every year 8. It could minimize heart attack risk 9. Your odds of staying healthier increase as soon as you get the shot 10. Not only do you benefit, but so does your family, friends and co-workers
