The Huseyin Tunc Memorial Fund

Huseyin C. Tunc, beloved husband to Pinar, dear father to Melike and Zeynep, and pharmacist, entrepreneur and co-owner of Kensington Pharmacy, passed away on April 30th, 2016 after a courageous fight against colon cancer.

Huseyin believed in the importance of being a mentor. Pinar, along with his two daughters have established The Huseyin Tunc Memorial Fund in order to keep his kind and generous spirit alive. In addition to providing financial support to students, this fund also aids those causes close to his heart.

It is because of your generosity and kindness that we have already been able to help so many and in return, preserve Huseyin's legacy! The Huseyin Tunc Memorial Fund has already helped so many! We have donated to the American Red Cross to help refugees in war-torn Syria and to the Bridge to Turkiye Fund, a US-based non-profit organization that helps needy children in turkey gain access to the nutritious meals and groceries.

Our next project includes working with both his alma mater, the University of Maryland school of pharmacy in the form of a scholarship and his high school, Antalya Lisesi, in his hometown of Antalya, Turkey. We hope to provide these students aid in the form of educational equipment such as computers.

Services

In early 1979, a few months after their wedding, Huseyin and Pinar moved from Turkey to Maryland and made Silver Spring home ever since. In mid-2005, Kensington Pharmacy which was also known as BJ's Kensington Pharmacy was sold to a local chain and closed down permanently. That was the time, Huseyin and Pinar decided to reopen Kensington Pharmacy and re-establish the good old neighborhood pharmacy environment combined with the latest technology.

Since re-opening its doors for business in December 2005, Kensington Pharmacy has become a place where everyone knows each other, much like that beloved TV series "Cheers" (except, no alcoholic beverages, and cigarettes). Stop by and experience the difference of a true community pharmacy!
